I think it is fine to be skeptical, as long as you are skeptically responding to the full details of an issue. While I appreciate the fact that you seemed to have read parts of my speculative blog posting, you have seemed to have missed major specific details.

1) Humans are more interested in Bigfoot that we are in porcupines, so your reactive sense that there are more Bigfoot than porcupines is pretty much a typical instance of human-near human bias.

2) We talk more about Bigfoot, have more media attention to Bigfoot sightings, and so forth, and people pay no attention to porcupine sightings and roadkill.

3) Dr. Grover Krantz estimated there were 2000-4000 Bigfoot in the USA, mostly to be found in the PNW.

4) There are millions of porcupines. For example, one recent study estimated there are 1 million porcupines in the state of Wisconsin alone.

5) I did not say that every dead Bigfoot bone would be taken by porcupines. I said it was one explanation for why some of the bones disappear. I also mentioned coyotes and rodents too.

6) Mostly, please note, I referred to porcupines and their incredible liking for eating antlers and bones. The hoarding was only a sidelight that might assist in helping to find the leftovers, just as it has in archaeological research on human bones.

7) I agree, you should be skeptical and whether or not I am scientific enough for you is in the eye of the beholder. But for the record, my undergraduate degree was in anthropology, with a minor in zoology. My graduate degree had much to do with dealing with humans, and figuring out some psychological insights from interviewing eyewitness.

Best wishes,
Loren Coleman

I would say that more research is required, but my wife would probably object to that...

Nice rundown on all the unproductive and insane nonsense the conservatives and Republicans have been up to. They may not be in power, but their influence is strongly felt among "Blue Dog" Democrats and even the President, much to the detriment of the country. These combative stonewallers have absolutely nothing to offer us but more tax cuts for the rich and huge corporations. Basically, they want us to engage in unending war in the Middle East and a return to 1928 economics, and we would be absolute fools to vote Repyblican in November!
