Two! Two Senators from Minnesota! Ah…ah…ah…

Al Franken finally declared the winner by the Minnesota Supreme Court. I can’t wait to see him walk into the Senate chambers.

McCain was for Cap-and-trade before he was against it

Funny how that works out.

Re-Engineering the earth

If it comes to it.

Five lessons from JP Morgan Chase’s survival of the financial meltdown

You have to love a blog that starts out:

All over the country before the banking bust, there were people sitting in their desk chairs so tense and anxious – and painfully silent – they could have been holding pennies in their butt cheeks.

But what he has to say here is absolutely great business practice. Honesty in business. How refreshing.

The U.S. hands over more of Iraq to the Iraqis as bombs go off

It’s promising that we feel good enough to do this, but clear we have a long stay in Iraq left to go.

California issues IOU’s

Yeah, it’s gotten that bad. California can’t meet it’s debt and is now writing on little slips of paper it keeps in a shoebox what it owes to people.

I see….He’s the Republican Black Sheep, but he certainly fits in….

Michael Steele talking about “suspicious” “people” “taking names and pictures” at a pro life rally. Maybe they were reporters, and he just isn’t used to seeing them. Really, the paranoia in this clip is fit for Ann Coulter’s audience. Clip is from Hannity.

Tex. Governor wants to secede, because we all know how well that turned out before.

Here’s the press conference. As a matter of fact, we might be better off…….

Iowa Senator Threatened over Gay Marriage decision

Just because he’s openly gay. And, because, you know allowing gays to marry is going to lead us all into violent chaotic upheaval, kind of like guys how randomly threaten lawmakers with death because of….hey wait a minute….

If the Republicans go this way, I won’t have any problem with it.

This is a brilliant move, exclude everybody even more, make the party stronger and it’ll be even stronger, perhaps in its purity, or its pure race……

Here’s a good quote: “It’s time to stand up, speak out, and confuse the Miss McCains of the world with the facts.”

Of course, most of the article is about opinions. It’s amazing how this writer doesn’t understand the discrimination the Republicans dish out, or that SHE HERSELF is.

In a parallel but unrelated story

Former McCain campaign architect says Republicans should embrace their gayness, or at least drop the gay marriage issue from their platform.

The Pig Book is out

Let’s see who is the worst offenders with earmarks. Hmmm…..Alaska led the nation on a per capita basis, Republican Sen. Thad Cochran from Mississippi was highest. To be fair, the next three or four are Democrats, but there you go.

In fiscal year 2009, Congress stuffed 10,160 projects into the 12 appropriations bills worth $19.6 billion. The amount marks a 14 percent increase over 2008.

Overall, that’s not a lot of money, but the increase in a time of calls for restraint from both sides is pretty insulting.

The most untrustworthy politicians list

Palin and Pelosi are at the top. I couldn’t agree more about both of them. Now that Blago’s tower has been toppled, I’m just waiting for these two.

Limbaugh Jumps on Bush for killing hundreds of thousands of Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I’m sorry, I read that wrong. He criticized Obama for killing the three Islamic pirates that kidnapped the ship captain and held him hostage on a boat in the middle of the ocean. Silly me.

Obama isn’t taking our guns. So it was the Republicans that lied.

Gee, I don’t get snookered often, but gosh golly gee whizbang.

I love high end home audio folks….they’ll buy into anything

If you buy these you should be mocked without mercy.

Senators want to tax AIG bonuses

Well, if that’s the only thing you do, it’s a start. The thing that gets me is that these are retention bonuses, and it indicates AIG actually wants to retain the maroons who got us into this. They could have saved those milions, let those people go, and hired people who were actually competent at what they do. What, does the government run this company? Oh, right. The proposal of looking to see if the books are cooked, and deny the bonuses based on that is nice, but those things take time.

Twitter Don’t do everything

As you can see in this interview between John McCain and George Stephanopolous. Aside from the fact that by the time you type Stephanopolous’s name, you only have enought characters left to ask are “how r u?” and “wanna screw?” This whole thing just screams “bad idea”. I mean, if you can solve all of the world’s problems in 140 characters or less, we wouldn’t need congress (wait, do we need congress?) And the interviewee? McCain has his fine points, but he needs to stop doing things to prove that he uses technology now, because it just serves to illustrate that he doesn’t use technology. Take the time lag between his first two tweets, 17 mins. George’s first question? What do you tweet on. McCain’s answer: “telegraph”. I’m sorry too easy, but his real answer was “Usually PC sometimes.”

AIG: Resign or Kill Yourselves

This surprisingly refreshing piece of advice was given by Sen. Charles Grassly (R-Iowa). He was talking about the Japanese ethic of shame, and he’s right. AIG feels no shame about what they have done, whether it was due to cooked books or incompetence. Americans don’t understand responsibility or humilty, and therefore, feel no shame (a simple equation Einstein came up with says S=RH^2). For those who think I hate all Republicans, take note: I like this guy, at least on this statement.

This is the kind of Republican I hate

Glenn Beck says Obama is building concentration camps for Republicans. Obama Replied that he wasn’t but, now that you mention it, Gautanamo is opening up.

Canada’s Science Minister is a creationist

That’s like having a President who is a compassionate conservative or something, eh? I said, can I get an eh? When asked if he believed in evolution, he wouldn’t answer based on religious reasons. Here’s the thing: If you’re going to believe, stand up for your beliefs. Isn’t that what Jesus said? “One of you will deny me three times by the cock’s crow”, I think it was. See, he got himself into a little bind between his job and his faith, and he couldn’t even follow the greatest story ever told.

Enough! Time for drinkin’.

Why we hate executives pt1

Spansion, Inc. Cut 3,000 jobs, then restored executives to full pay. The laid off workers were given no severance pay. They make flash memory chips, and are failing. Hm. Go figure.

Why we hate executives pt 2 (And by association Chicago, Earth WInd and Fire and Cheryl Crow)

Northern Trust Bank, They received $1.6 billion in bailout bucks. This was part of sponsorship for a golf tournament, for which they paid out a good deal of the $6.3 million dollar purse. I have no problem with this, as the deal to promote it was probably inked long ago. The shows were probably booked as well, but could have been toned down.

While the stimulus bill was palatable, I’m not sure this spending bill is.

This might be a little too much for us to swallow right now. I really want to know what all is going into this one.

Now that I’ve heard the charges, Burris is Guilty.

I like the excuse, though. I’m not guilty because my fundraising efforts failed. Let’s see if that works in any other context: “You can’t convict me because I failed to murder him.” Not really.

Americans think GOP should drop ideology and work with Obama

But will they? No. As evidenced by this:

Michael Steele threatens to withhold money from the Republicans who voted for the stimulus package

Break from ideology and we’ll punish you. Well, Fuck you, Michael Steele. Hmmm…..maybe he’s actually an old white man in blackface.

The National debt had been crashing before the Reagan Revolution

That’s fiscal responsibility you can ruin a nation on…..

10 Republican senators who have been pursuing the same failed economic policies for 16 years

16 years ago, President Clinton began to balance the budget and pay off the deficit, and the Republicans unanimously voted against, saying it would be a drain on our economy (as if the interest on that deficit wouldn’t be). What followed was an era of prosperity. These 10 senators are still pursuing those same policies. Here’s the list:

Bennett (R-UT)
Bond (R-MO)
Cochran (R-MS)
Grassley (R-IA)
Gregg (R-NH)
Hatch (R-UT)
Hutchison (R-TX)
McCain (R-AZ)
McConnell (R-KY)
Shelby (D-AL, note: Shelby was supposedly a Democrat at the time. He switched parties shortly thereafter.)

A GOP Savant! Utah Governor accuses the GOP of gratuitous political griping

And that’s it.

News Round-up 2-16-09

Republicans almost unanimously vote against the largest tax cut in history

Funny how that works out. So much for standing up to principles.

And now they’re nationalizing banks

Lindsey Graham talks about the impending nationalization of the banking system.

An oral history of the Bush Administration

This is pretty fascinating. An insider look at everything that went on.

Obama is fearmongering….yeah….sure…..

The pot calls the kettle black

Alexandra Pelosi’s experiences documenting the McCain campaign

Yes, she’s the daughter of THAT Pelosi, but she did an honest documentary that you can see soon.

Check out this spin:

Republicans who voted against the stimulus bill are taking credit for points in it.

Bush no longer protecting Rove

So much for Loyalty

Eight people arrested…..

For smoking a little weed with Michael Phelps. No one arrested yet for 8 deaths and 575 illnesses due to tainted peanuts that had been knowingly sent out since 2007.

This is just way too cool…

5 soldiers who made Rambo look like pussies.

The C-Word is now defending white supremacists

The throw-away article of the day. Ann Coulter is a racist. Who woulda thunk? Here she is defending the Council of Conservative Citizens.
