To the everlasting love

You’ve been gone for a few years now and my heart still aches for you, for us that could’ve been if things were different. Maybe in some other universe we’re actually happy together and they speak of us like those couples who are perpetually in love, like we’re the manifestation of true love. Alas, not in this universe. When I first met you I didn’t even think you’d look at me the same way I looked at you. You were the most important thing in a room to me, the center of my universe. On my birthday you gave me a book and then our friend locked us in my room and I was so shy and you also didn’t take the first step and so I loved you fiercely but quietly. And then you left, and I moved across the world, never expecting to hear from you but I always wondered what if. And then you found me online and we both felt awkward and hopeful?! And then the confessions started rolling in and I was ready to swim across the ocean for you and so were you to me but something always got in the way….and so all we had were years of calls and emails and all consuming desire….and then you left, quietly in your sleep…and I never got to hold you or touch you or kiss you, not in this life, but maybe, just maybe, we can meet again in our next life and maybe we will be given a chance to be together without anything getting in the way….
